Summer staff members are campers’ primary caregivers during the week. You must have graduated high school by the start of summer camp. Priority hiring will go to applicants with at least one year of college, work experience, or a gap year out of high school.
In each camp session, you will be assigned a group of campers to whom you will supervise and provide emotional support, friendship, and guidance throughout the week. You will lead Bible Studies, stay with campers in the cabin, and lead various outdoor activities throughout the week. Please review the staff calendar below. There are six mandatory weeks of work and three optional weeks for additional pay. Staff must be at Camp Dickenson for training from 2 pm on June 1st until noon on June 14. You will receive time off during these weeks, and we will attend church together on the 8th. All staff need to be at Camp at 2 pm on Sunday afternoons and should expect to work until 6 pm on Thursday evenings during these weeks: June 15-19, June 22-26, July 6-10, and July 13-17. You will be paid a bonus each mandatory week if you complete the ropes and lifeguard training.
Applicants need to have three passions:
A love of God and an interest in being involved in a Christian ministry
A love of children and youth and the capacity to care for them 24-hours a day during camp
A love for the outdoors and being in God’s creation in all weather conditions
